Here is an question.
Do you have experience with copying from recorded DVD+RW (Philips DVDR 75/17) to DVD-R (or +) R ?
I recorded couple of DVD+RW and now I am trying to copy some of them to DVD-R. I am using Nero and Sony DRU-500A burner. Nero complains about some "DVD-Video realocation failed". For now I am using as an destination DVD-RW so I don't make coasters but I was wondering if anybody have any advise on this.
Thanks.

Have you tried:
1. DVD Decrypter - Rip in file mode (all files) and burn with Nero
or
2. DVD Decrypter - ISO read - ISO writeYou stop me again whilst I'm walking and I'll cut your fv<king Jacob's off. -
DVD Decrypter 3.1.4.0 can't recognize disc. I use it for DVD-Video backup, plus IfoEdit and Nero.
Anybody who did this already ?
My test (copy directly) didn't work. DVD can't be played. I am planing to test some more but I would appreciate if anybody who does this can reply.Pinnacle Studio 8 and DV home video editing (ver.9 already home) -
I'm not trying to be a smartass but 3.1.4.0 is one year old...

That is why I posted version number. Is this something that you did or are you just guessing ?

Last week I copied a DVD-R to DVD+R, 1 on 1 using Nero6 with DVD-copy
option. So the other way around should work to IMHO... -
Have a look at this link as well:

I'm copying DVD +RW (edited) discs made by my Philips DVDR70 dvdrecorder to DVD +R discs using Nero 6 and my pc/NEC1300. -

So I downloaded new version of DVD Decrypter v3.1.6.0 and that can read DVD+RW that was recorded in Philips recorder.
Then I used "Get VTS Sectors" function in IfoEdit.
Then I burned result with Nero. Result can be played now in one DVD Player but menu is kind of "flashing" as so subtitles (date/time info). It does not play on the other player.
I am still looking for some additional advices.Pinnacle Studio 8 and DV home video editing (ver.9 already home) -
That DVD-R of mine was also made with a philips DVD-recorder, are you sure your pc can read DVD-RW well?

Maybe your disc is not finalized??

proton - I agree with you. Even though others believe/maintain that the expression "finalize" is wrong to use in connection with dvd +rw (see suggested link in my first reply above). I guess the expression 'make edits compatible' is less controversial even though I tend to think of this as finalizing the dvd +rw disc.
Anyhow, this is exactly how I copy dvd +rw discs recorded with my Philips DVDR70 to either dvd +r or dvd - r discs using my pc and nero/NEC1300 dvd burner:
Make the dvd +rw disc compatible by using the Philips menu option described in the manual at page 66 ('make edits compatible'). This could take a few minutes - depending on the amount of chapters you have edited. Then copying the dvd +rw disc in a normal manner by using Nero's copy disc function. Works everytime for me !
Regarding the Philips menu option 'make edits compatible' :
- was not available at first, I had to download/install firmware upgrade from Philips website
- is reached from the top-level in main-menu by pressing arrow up in order to get to the disc menu (it's all described in the manual for R70) -
i have a philips dvdr70, i often record to dvd+rw never finalized a dvd+rw on the philips recorder before, i rip the dvd+rw to my hd using dvd decryptor, iso read, then i use decryptor agian in iso write to burn the ripped dvd+rw staright onto dvd+r. i ve not had a problem with it really. occasionally dvd decryptor says an error occured during the ripping of the dvd+rw, when that happens i switch to using nero to copy a dvd and do it that way. but dvd decryptor is a better way of doing it as far as i am concerned, i store the iso images on my hd for burning multiple dvds from the same iso image. oh and the philips dvdr70 recorder is just brilliant, a great price too!

I copied from a DVD+RW onto DVD+R by simply copying all of the files from VIDEO_TS (drag n drop) to a hard disk folder the burning from there using NERO.
I didn't think that dvddecryptor or similar was necessart because there is no CSS on that +RW (it was a test backup that I was transfering to cheaper +R media for archival)

First test - FAILED
- copy VIDEO_TS folder from source DVD+RW through Windows Explorer to HD
- burn DVD-Video with Nero to new DVD+RW
- error message "... alocation ..." during start
- result: It does not play in DVD-PlayerPinnacle Studio 8 and DV home video editing (ver.9 already home) -
Second test - SUCCESS
- start Nero
- change to Wizard mode
- Select "DVD", "Copy a DVD", "Fast copy (on-the-fly)"
- new DVD-R plays like original +RW (same problem, it does not play on my Daewoo DVD player and menu+subtitle is "flashing" on Mintek)Pinnacle Studio 8 and DV home video editing (ver.9 already home)
