  1. How do you re-author a DVD? I just did a search and nothing came up. I have some DVD Rs that I would like to change the menus and chapters and some that have no menus that I would like to re do. Is there a way to rip and open directly in a author program? I could play the disc and re capure and start from scatch but there must be a more direct method.

  2. You can use any of the meriad of ripping tools(dvvddecrypter, ifoedit, smartripper, dvdshrink) and get the VOBs and ripped to your HDD. Then use an authoring tool to add the menus and other stuff that you want.

I'd suggest using an authoring tool that can work with VOBs directly(TMPGEN DVD Author and DVD-Lab come to mind).

    Essentially:
    1) Rip the VOB files off the DVD
    2) Import them into the authoring program
    3) Add nex chapter points, menus, what not
    4) Compile the DVD and burn to a new disc.

Plent of guides in the guides section to help you through the finer points.

You can import dvd-video directly with DVD-lab, tmpgenc dvd author, ulead dvd workshop, ulead dvd moviefactory and reauthor with menus,chapters...

And you don't have to rip dvdrs....just copy the video_ts folder to your hd.

  5. I think if you got DVD-R and it's not decrypted, you don't need to rip. Just use Windows explorer and drag and drop the VOB files off of the DVD media to anywhere you want. If you still want to rip using DVD Decryptor, You have to select Mode> File mode from the menu. Then Edit > Select All files, or something like that.

  6. It seems that with digital video nothing is as easy as described. I tried what andkiich advised, ripped the VOBs with Smartripper. tmpgenc dvd author opened the first one but says the rest are an illegal format. I'll try copying the video_ts folder.

  7. OK you are not payng attention.. Listen to Baldrick, he is a guru, although I cannot figure out his avatar sexually!!! No pun intended!!

I recommend you use TMPGDVD because its' seems to be the easiest (did I get the spelling correct) Click create and Add video file -point to your Video_TS folder. Dialog will appears , follows it and you end up with a dvd compliant mpeg file that you can re-authored anywhere. Finished
