OK, i am aware that you are supposed to read the other q´s first, I have, but found nothing that can help, so I´m asking myself.....
I am trying (for the last couple of days!!!) to copy a DVD9 to DVD-R Via DVD+RW, Now, I can follow the guides for the letter, but when it comes to burning to the disc, i am getting something on it, but it cannot be read by eithe my DVD player or indeed my computer.
Any Ideas? please help!!!

DVD-R Via DVD+RW
First place I'd direct you is the Media and Player Guides here - on the left - to check compatability between the two.
Next advice is for you to detail what you've done so others may help.
(It's also a help to edit your post and rename the subject to something that states your problem better than "in need of help". Lots of people skip right over posts like that. You can keep the "complete biff" part if you want. It made me curious enough to peek in.) :c)There's no place like 127.0.0.1

Gees, Please accept my appologies, as I said a complete biff!!
anyway, the info.....i have used the guides (here on the Left!!) as you say, and followed them word for word....including downloading all the required software.
I can rip the DVD to my hard drive no problem, i can even watch the file from my HDD so I know that the file is ok....However, when I write the file to DVD+RW (using Copyto DVD) I get the flashing light to say that it is being burned, However when it is finished I then Have a DVD with nothing on it, well, actually more like no readable data, meaning there is something because I can see where it has been written on, but my DVD player (cyberhome CH-DVD505) nor my DVD drives(hitachi and BTC) cannot open/play the disc.
I want to write to DVD-R eventually, but already wasted 5 disc so figured i could try on dvd-RW then direct copy to DVD-r when it finally works.
Hope that is all the info you need. -

No need for apologies. I suggested you provide more info so others can help if they can.
I would still say to check the media & player info. If you can play it through PC that may narrow it down to either a media or player problem. Some just don't like + or - or RW of each type.
That's what I mean by the Guides. Look up your disc type/brand & your player model & read what other owner/users have good and bad experience with. There's no place like 127.0.0.1

What are you ripping with?
As it is a DVD9 to DVD5 conversion, I would suggest DVDShrink or similar.
You should then be able to burn the resultant Video_TS folder to DVD+/-R/RW with anything from DVD Decryptor to Nero Express

Gees- I looked in the compatability check but my media brand and players dont get a hit.....although seperate verbatim datalife seems to be a general good choise, second, the video stream is direct from the hdd not the DVD-R....that´s the problem.
Zenith52- I have use a combination of programs..mainly DVD decryptor to rip to HDD then either dvd to one, dvd95copy, or directly using dvd shrink, but as i already said, thats not the problem.....it´s the writing to disc i can´t get a grasp of.....i have tried nero 6, copy to dvd, a hole load of other dvd writting software but as yet, nothing seems to be writing the correct type of info, i just get a disc full of usless info that doesn´t play or is unrecognised by windows. -
Bones870, you say you are writing to DVD+RW. Can the written disc be read in the burner. That is the only device you have that SHOULD read the disc. All the others (Standalone DVD, Other DVD rom etc) are an unknown as far as media compatibility is concerned.
If you can read the disc in the burner, then you could probably assume the other devices are not compatible with +RW. If not, its either a burner or media problem. Trying Different brand media is probably the easiest thing to try next. -

hey ho....
well, I seem to be getting somewhere.....ok, i have finally burned a "DVD" using a comination of DVD decrypt, DVD95Cop, and burned iot using CopytoDVD, and I have tried reading it in my DVD player......result....well, It reads it and recognises the fact that there is a dvd there, it even tries to play it, but i get a black screen and my player freezes up....i´ll try another media and get back if all is not well.....
thanks all for the help, keep your eyes peeled, i might still need it.
