    I'm a newbie with a simple question.

    Do I need to format my blank dvd's before i can write to them?

    No, they are blank.

    Best to decide now what you intend to do with those blanks and start reading up on the Guides to the left. Otherwise, you'll find yourself asking little basic questions every step of the way, which is fine but not necessary and they may go unanswered.

    There's a great glossary right on this site too, if you hit some terms you're not familiar with.
