Just received my e-mail Pinnacle newsletter with this "new?" product. Check it out: http://www.pinnaclesys.com/docloader_n.asp?doclink=/newsletters/october/flash.html&templ=62&fam=1097

Seems like a neat concept, but are there similar products out there? One thing I would like to do is this: There is almost no DVR's out there that record HDTV. Say if I had a satellite/terestrial HDTV receiver like the Samsung SIR TS160 (check this out! http://www.samsungusa.com/cgi-bin/nabc/product/b2c_product_detail.jsp?eUser=&prod_id=SIRTS160X%2fXAA could I record a High Def image to the hard disk of my computer? And if so, what equipment would I need? New capture card, etc?

Interesting to think that our PC's could be the "hub" of our home entertainment needs rather than a number of seperate devices?
You create your own reality. Interested in media servers and HTPC? Can we talk?

Not yet you can't. But for terrestrial HDTV you could buy a PCI card to record the stream to your drive. There are a few aroung, and a few threads about it too, The MyHD MDP-100 or the newer model, WinTV HD, and a couple of others.
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?

Actually, I think I'm wrong. For the European systems I think you can get a card that will do HD satellite decoding, and cable too.
