    Hi all.

Can somebody explain how to convert audio from the 23.976 to 29.970
    and still keep sync after a 27.970 to 23.976 (w/ 3:2 pulldown) please ??

    Here's my issue...
I have (somewhat) successfull converted DV home footage from the usual
29.970 down to 23.976 (film) but when I play the encode in any medium, the
audio is way out of sync. I know that this type of conversion is unusual,
but I'm exploring other options to obtaining better DV conversion from home
    movies.

At this time, I am using a combinatoin of vdub and AVS for the conversion
from 29.970 down to 23.976 fps, and inside TMPG, I use the 3:2 pulldown.
When I burn the source to CDR, it's play pretty smoothly, but the audio is
    nowhere w/in sync.
However, w/ respect to smootheness of video play, it's rather a tiny bit in
the slow-mo smoothese I need to speed it up slitely, like they do with
    the PAL to NTSC conversion.

Ok, the one thing that I didn't notice in the conversion was the well known
"strobbing" that occurs when one De-Interlace's a video ie, 720 x 480 and
set to full frame. I did some rather excellent de-interlace processes but
after I burned to CDR and played in my DVD player (apex ad-1500) I noticed
stobbing during panning scenes ie, people walking accross the horizontal,
though quality was very good otherwise. When I converted to 23.976 and
encoded w/ 3:2 pulldown, last I checked and noticed, the "strobbing" was
gone, but the video is slightly running like in slow-mo, but not that
noticable. It's like the inverse (revise) of PAL to NTSC, when they slightly
speed up the video. Anyways, I'm hoping for a resolution

So, please anyone w/ some solutions, I would really appreciate them,
    really.. thanks,

  2. This looks a bit unusual. The normal (or common) method of doing 29.97 to 23.97 fps conversion is inverse telecine, then apply 3:2 pulldown as you did. This should result in a video of exactly the same length as the original and so audio sync should not be a problem. How exactly did you do the 29.97 to 23.97 conversion, and why. I know IVTC is not reccomended for DV as it was not telecined in the first place, so what have you done and how does the length of the result compare to that of the original
