  1. The cover graphic for The Princess Bride isn't being displayed properly and the link to discussion is pointing to a non-public area.

I've been comparing with the code from the AT&T home. Part of the issue is the cover graphic is jpeg, not gif, and your current code isn't linking properly. There's something else creating the problem. Word makes such garbled code I can't seem to figure out where the problem is coming from.

    This is useful
Isn't this where PM's come in?

  3. So...you moved this out of the SVCD discussion area (which is what the site deals with) into a place where it won't be seen and didn't bother to provide any useful contact info, just a complaint? How helpful was THAT?

Thank you for the heads up. The picture worked fine just a couple days ago, I'll have to look into it to see what happened. BTW its no longer hosted at AT&T, its now hosted by everyone's interenet.

As far as the link, I didn't know where else to link it to. I used to have it linked directly to a PM to me, but then I started to get the same 5 questions everyday so I linked it to the SVCD forum so those questions could be answered publicly. I figured most of the people using the site got there from dvdrhelp anyway, so they'd probably already be members of the forum. But since it seems enthusiasm for SVCDs, and for these methods in particular, has died down, I'll move it back to a PM.

Thanks again for letting me know. I'll get it fixed soon.

  5. Oh, good, glad to reach you. Yes, SVCD is less important but still nice for some things. Maybe the MPEG2 transcoders will be considered antiquanted when the dual-layer stuff shakes out.

I was updating the links list at Donald Graft's site and came across a link to your new location. The next rev of the links list will reflect this.

Perhaps you should link to the how-to thread which corresponds?

  6. Sorry about that. I was rebuilding the computer with those records and couldn't easily dig up the URL.

It's about making SVCD from DVD and keeping the menu structure.

Ok I fixed it. I have no idea what happened, I just overwrote that page with my backup files and it worked after that. I also made the comment link take you to a PM to me for now. FredThompson what thread did you mean when you said I should link to that? Also what is Donald Graft's current homepage? All of the links I have found to it have been dead ends.

BTW my guide is in desperate need of an update. Several of the more complicated steps can be skipped now that VirtulDubMod is available. It will have to wait until after mid terms though.

  8. VirtualDubMod's MPEG2 doesn't work properly. I'd avoid it for processing if at all possible.

I thought you had a thread here, it's just a redirector like most of the guides lately. I guess general discussion is the proper place to link.

So vob->VdubMod is not as stable as vob->avisynth->Vdub?

It that is the case then I suppose I can consider my guide updated.

Nevermind, I just noticed your sig.

Yes there was a thread here that I linked to for a while, but that entire forum has been removed. No bother, I don't get many questions regarding this guide anymore.

I'm glad I made your list. Coming from you and Donald, that is definitely a compliment.

  10. yup, the dev team for VirtualDubMod admits the problems also. FWIW, Donald started tracking down bugs with MPEG2 decoding.

Yours is the best site I've found that covers this sort of operation. It's a great guide. Thank YOU.

    Are you referring to me?
I didn't move it, nor did I complain, but now you're ranting I'm glad I could help

  12. I only responded in kind. You were flippant and did complain. Read what you typed.

  13. FredThompson, I moved your post here. I had no Idea who Adam Poole was or that his site links to the forum here. Reading the thread I now know who you were referring to. Just from the content of the post, off-topic appeared to be the correct place for it.

As for Will Hay, he did not and could not move your post as he is not a Mod of this site.

Sorry if moving it caused offence or difficulty, none was intended. Anyway, your problems appear to be sorted now.

I would have thought the most valid point was simply that the post, in its posted format, was totally irrelevent to anyone but the author and the member named in the thread title.
But hey, what I know, I'm flippant and complain (and don't use emoticon's to portray my intentions, apparently
Man, I'm having a good day (no, really, I am, a great weekend)
