I have been making VCD Back-upsof my DVD's for sometime now and one thing is apparent, some DVD's encode better to VCD than others.
For example : I've just backed-up The GHOST SHIP DVD to VCD (Using Sefys Enhanced SEVCD Template... with a few minor modifications of my own) and the finished result is very good... However, last night I backed-up The PHONE BOOTH DVD and the finished result leaves alot to be desired! - There is alot of noise in most frames....
This has also been the case with these films :
Me Myself & Irene
The Truman Show
Ali 'G' In Da House
Home Alone
Scrooged..... To name just a few.
I am using TMPGenc to do all my encoding.... and wondered if there was an additional setting (Within TMPGenc) I could try?
Has anyone else noticed this ?
Films That have encoded realy well are :
Final Fantasy
J-Park 3
Unbreakable
Johhny English
Tomb Raider
Solaris....
Any help would be much appreciated![]()

You could try upping the bitrate beyond the spec to say 1500k (As long as your player can handle it) Also motion search precision could be set higher on the fast action films, like ghost ship. or try svcd for better quality...
