I need a inexpensive, quality player that can play most anything that I throw at it. Good VCD, SVCD and rental DVD playback is what I'm looking for. Has anyone with this player come across anything better in the same price range? I am considering this player because I have used another Apex I am happy with and the compatability list says it plays most everything.
What do you guys think? Good purchase or are there better players out there for the same cost, considering what it is I want to play?
Other players I'm considering:
Pioneer DV-333: No SVCD subs playback(thats subtitles right?) I may need that. Also the cd changer version would be nice for the multi disk svcd's.
Apex AD-1100W: I don't think I will be able to find this but who knows.
Thats about all. Any other players I should consider? Thanks.

Personally I like th Cyberhome 402/500. Cheap but plays VCD, SVCD, CVD, DVD, DVDR (- or +), mp3, jpg, etc. Also has loop menus for region selection. But the company just went TU so finding one might be hard.

I've had one for over a year and I like it. Plays everything including MPG'S. Quality control is reportably not the best, but I've had no problems with mine. Make sure you are able to return if it quits, or get the extended warranty if it's cheap enough. You might check this site for DVD player reviews, because there are quite a few other players in the same price bracket.

Thank you for your reply.
One of the comments says the 402 as problems with TMPGenc is that true? If so does the 405 have that same problem? Cause I like TMPGenc.
Also I'm starting to consider a version of the Norcent DP300.
All comments are welcome, thanks. -
Thank you Red. Ok so the 1500 may break early, I also heard that aswell. I can't expect to much for the price it goes for. There are a lot of resources for solving Apex problems I see. For that price I think its worth the risk.
Anyone else have suggestions?
