I've been reading these forums for weeks and now finally as I'm making SVCD's, I have a problem. I have encoded with TMPGenc and burned with Nero. Everything looks great but the audio is out of sync just enough to be unwatchable. The SVCD mpg looks great until I'm playing it back in an APEX AD-3201.
Anyone else have audio sync problems? Any ideas?
Need help.

Hi Johnny,
If you use the prewiew in TMPEG then you have to reset all the configuration of movie, otherwise you 'll have some out of sync -
Hi Johnny,
Have exact same problem. Was glad when I read your post, but disappointed when I read the answers.
There is the same prob when playing it on the computer using powerdvd.
There is a mention of the problem in the faq, but it says something about stretching the audio. I don't feel that stretching is needed. The problem is there right from the start of the movie.

Johnnyvideoboy, I'm a little confused by your post. IF you are saying that the MPEG plays fine on your PC but you are having audio sync problems when playing on your Apex, then the problem is with your standalone player. Apex players are infamous for the poor quality o f their VCD and SVCD playback.
I have seen this Apex audio sync problem on the few different models I've tried... and I've had friends who have encountered this as well. -
I've been having the same problem. I have a 81:26 min movie. It plays fine no sync problems. I extracted the audio and video stream with TMPGENC now the video stream is 81:26 min. The audio is 81:31min. I converted the m1v stream with TMPGENC to a VBR m2v stream for use in a SVCD using sefy's settings in hopes to fit the whole movie on a cd now the m2v stream is 81:21 min long when I put the audio back with the video it's out of sync I can understand why but don't know how to fix it. Any help would be appreciated

Hi !
I had exactly the same problem as you (everything looked fine on my pc, but was out of sync on my standalone player),
but this problem disappeard after I installed TMPGEnc v2.00
PS. I followed the guide at http://www.dvdripguides.com/index.asp, using his svcd templates.

Hello all,
I have had this problem for a long time and no one has been able to tell me why. But I have the answer!
Which I found quite by accident.
For some unknown reason TMPGenc makes VCD's that dont play correctly on all DVD players (my own included). After about 5 mins the video speeds up and becomes out of sync! Then slows down again and is back in sync.
I don't know why this happens, but I have the solution (it works for me anyway)

Encode as normal using TMPGenc. Then use MPEGtools (within TMPGenc) to de multiplex the mpeg, it maybe neccessary to rename the extensions .mpv(from .m2v) and .mpa(from .mp2).
Once you have got seperate audio and video files re multiplex them using Xing 2.0 encoder, this does not effect the quality it just merges the 2 files back to a .mpg (be sure to choose VCD for the job in Xing). I don't know if any other multiplexing software works because I've only used Xing.
Burn the .mpg to CD as normal and hey presto a working VCD with no sync problems!
If you cant follow these instructions email me!
