  1. I am currently using Pioneer 4x ink jet printable media at about $3 each that allows me to print right up to the hub.

Looking for any other less expensive reliable media that I can print on up to the hub. Any ideas??

    thanks.

  2. I've been searching for the same thing. I've learned that Pioneer is not making DVD-R media anymore and therfore their disks that were printable up to the hub are not available unless you can find a vendor that still has stock.

I called Meritline and they weren't sure what I wanted. They did call me back though and indicated that they don't currently carry any.

I've found some SKC that seem to the right thing. I've not found a source that has them in stock yet. Obviuosly I'd want to try them before I buy a large supply. If anyone has used these, what did you think?

I'm still searching, hopefully these will become more readily available in the future.

    Still searching...

The BeAll printable Dvd-r (both 1x and 4x) have no stack ring so you can print till the center of a disc.

  5. Yes, BeALL DVD-R Printable Media does allow you to print up to the hub, and I have had great burning success with BeALL Discs. These discs also have the smoothest surface that I have ever felt for any inkjet printable disc, but that may not be entirely a good thing. I have purchased both BeALL Inkjet Printable DVD-R and Samsung (which are made by BeALL) inkjet printable DVD-R discs and have had horrible results when printing. The surface does not seem to absorb the ink properly. When the ink dries it doesn't look right, it looks a little smeared and cracked, it is VERY noticeable. In many cases the printable surface actually WRINKLED UP in some spots. I have tried many different print settings and many different ink saturation levels, I wasted about 20 discs and finally gave up. I have never had this problem with any other inkjet printable media, I have used Lead Data, Ritek, Optodisc, Accu brand and Taiyo Yuden. If anyone has had success printing on BeAll inkjet DVD-R media, please post what printer you have and what print settings you use. Thanks

  6. I've got the Meritline 4x printable sampler pack coming. It's got two of the BeALL's, along with 3 other brands. I'm using the Epson Photo 900 and I'll let you know how they turn out.

I did notice that the Samsung 1x that I tried never did fully dry. It still has a bit of a tacky feel in some areas. The output was great though. I can't remember the setting I used (Premium Glossy Photo?) but that might have contributed to the lack of drying.

  7. That tacky feeling that your are describing, that is what get with BeAll and Samsung DVD-Rs, which are both made by BeAll. In some cases it isn't that noticeable, but in must cases it looks really bad (compared to printing on other discs). If you do find a setting that fixes this problem please let me know. Thanks

  8. I have found with my Samsung(BeAll) on the Normal settings or +2 the disk is tacky for a few day but if I put it in a player for a day it comes out dry and not tacky. Otherwise it seems to take about 5 or 6 days of sitting out in the air to dry completely. I have seen no cracking or other issues other than the disk being quite a bit lighter than the original. I plan to try using the glossy film setting on the Samsung's and see how long it takes to dry. I'll post my results.

  9. I finally got around to trying my BeAll 4x printable. They're what I'm looking for in regards to the printable area. They print very nice but take a long time, if ever, to dry.

I did some research on the various sprays and decided to try the Krylon. When I got to the art store they didn't have the one I was looking for but did have a new product called Krylon Preserve It for digital photos. It worked pretty well, but all they had was matte and it left a bit of a rough surface. I'm still playing with it, as I may very well have used too much. I'll probably try the gloss next time if I can find it.

Also I found that I need to rig a good holder to use for the spraying, as I got a little on the underside.

I think this setup is going to work pretty well, so I ordered some more of the BeAlls. They burned at 4x and played in both of my players. My Sony S360 is very picky but still played the movie just fine.

  11. Guys,

Is there any CD-r inkjet printable all the way up to the hub, like this BeAll DVD-R you are talking about? I found the SKC brand but it appears that they are not producing it anymore. I also found the PRODISC CD-R80 - model # 46110100 but it is thermal. I have an EPSON Stylus Photo 960 inkjet printer. Any ideas? Thanks.

    Salu2,
    Jorge
