  2. I had no problem backing up my CSI Season 1. I used...
    DVDecrypter to Rip
InstantCopy to Transcode (stripped extra audio and subs)
PDI2ISO to convert my pdi files
DVDecrypter to burn ISO to DVD

Worked great and I can protect my originals.
    *Looks at CD collection*
I wish I had done back-ups of those, about 35% of them are ruined and now they are out of print

    Good Luck

I have a solution that is easier. I never use DVDXCopy except for this. The new DVDXCopy Platinum will copy episodic DVDs with a click and a burn.

You should be able to use DVD2One using a full disc copy specified. That option usually converts all my discs where I want to keep all content.

Yes, but DVDDecrypter will NOT do episodic DVDs, so DVD2One is not an option for this.

Actually, DVDDecrypter is the only ripper I use and it works VERY well on ripping all files off a DVD. I have done backups of many episodic DVDs without any serious problems.

Hmmm.......Don't know how this is working for you, but I have never got it to work with DVD2one and Decrypter.

This guide may be of some help in using DVDDecrypter and DVD2One.

    http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/mpg/dvd2one.htm

I cannot see why it would not work for you, unless the DVDDecrypter settings were off and it was not decrypting properly. I'm sure a review of the above guide may be of some help, should you want and/or need it.

sounds about what I did too. IC is great at episodic dvds. BTW, the only thing better than C.S.I. (remember we're talking about TV drama series here) is 24. Just got 24 season 2 and it's awesome.

OK I will give it try, but the link you gave was bogus. Can you link it again?

    Thanks

The above link works fine for me. At any rate, goto http://doom9.net or http://doom9.org then click on 'guides' then click on 'Ripping' then click on 'DVD Decryter guide'. For DVD2One click on 'guides' then click on 'DVD / miniDVD' then click on 'DVD backup guides' then click on 'using DVD2One'. There is probably also a guide on this site that links there.

@styro - That guide was just for ripping and transcoding a 9DVD to a 5DVD-R. Already know how to do this and I use DVD2one all of the time for this.

How is an Episodic DVD Decrypted using DVD Decrypter (what settings) and what settings do you use in DVD2one?

    Please explain the whole process.

    Thanks!

  14. cplevel42, you have to select all files from the dvd to rip in decrypter. Then use d2o which will compress them all to fit on a dvd5. Hope this helps.

    Thanks, jamerican.

The quote above is the 'nutshell' version of the guides I pointed out earlier. I believe the guides pointed out how to rip full disc and compress full disc. You just have to read through them.

DVD Decrypter will burn PDI without any conversion.

    OK, thanks!

I just tried it and it works fine. I could have sworn that I did the same thing before, but for some reason, I had trouble.

    Thanks!
