I've got a G4, 4Mhz, 320 RAM, OS X 10.2.6. Recently purchased a Devideon burner that the computer would not recognize.
I was inclined to blame the burner and its rudimentary software, but I wanted to see if anyone else with a similar set-up had trouble with firewire third-party DVD-R burners. I know Apple has very little support for such stuff, but I thought that maybe there was an OS X extension I was missing that would enable the firewire connection to suppport such a device.
Before I drop more dough on anything, I'd like to know what my options are. I'm willing to entertain the thought of buying an internal burner, but based on my experiences so far, I'm a bit wary.
Thoughts for a man rapidly running out of hard drive room?

I have a LaCie (Pioneer 105) FW burner attached to my G4 867mhz Quicksilver and it works fine. Never a problem. I use Toast 6 with it.
