  1. Has anyone tried Wal Mart dvd rentals yet? I have and I've been waiting 5 days now for my movies to arrive. Walmart claims it takes 2 days and I've had Netflix for a while and they always arrive in 2 days from them.

Walmart dvd rentals too new to perform? They offer 4 movies for $22/month vs. 3 for $20 from Netflix. But if it takes a week to get movies what is the point!?!?!

Just curious if anyone else has this service.

I'd be more curious to see if they are editing or censoring the content - I've heard that some manufacturers sell WalMart differently-cut copies which will have overly violent or sexual scenes taken out.. I wonder if that carries over into their rental service?

  3. I heard that too Housepig. But I did not know that Wlamart was ever in the rental business.

other than a few people refer to the "Walmart Rental" as buying something, using it, then returning it for their money back.

  4. Is there any truth to that post

I would not beleave such a thing myself if it is just a rumor. I could see major lawsuits over that commng up!

I mean If I find out I've been buying censored wallmart versions of a movie thinking I was getting the reall movie, the same as everyone else gets elsewhere, I will be sueing!

Unless the packages are clearly marked, NON wallmart approved scenes have been removed!!

  5. They suck. Netflix is MUCH faster and has a better selection.

    I didn't notice any censoring.

  6. Why do we need Walmart rentals? I think they get enough revenue out of me and everyone else. Netflix does fine and is user-friendly and offers uncut movies and hard-to-find films. Big corporations don't need to get into everything! So, as a matter of principle, I will not rent movies from Walmart...or any other corporate giant that tries to get into the movie rental business.
Just my opinion. I like Walmart -- for shopping.

I do know that Walmart DOES NOT have the unrated version of many movies. They also do not carry the explicit language CD's, so only the radio mixes.

Go look for the unrated version of the movie Pitch Black. Last time I looked they only had the R rated version. I still don't know why, there was no nudity, and only a little more explicit language.

  8. So what you mean is there is a different version of the movies for different ratings? That would suck!

I just thought the ratings were on the movies as a guide, Like going to the theatre, rated r or X or pg so you know if you want to take the kids or not!
Not like the version of the movie?

So how are we supposed to know what is the REAL movie then? The full uncut uncencored true movie?

If I wanted a cut and censored movie I'll do that myself when I back it up

THere actually is on official X rating anymore. It's basically given by the movie maker for movies that are explicit in content. Movies now can reach NC-17, but noy further from the MPAA.

So how are we supposed to know what is the REAL movie then? The full uncut uncencored true movie?
The REAL movie is what ever is realeased. Typically some movies comeout with "Unrated" versions. These are cuts that were too much for the rating they wanted so they toned it down to get their theater safe rating. Once the movie goes to the home market they add the scenes back, but they do not resubmit it to the MPAA for a new rating, because it costs a few grand.
