Got a hold of one of those old video output cards, it only has s-video and composite output on it, DOES NOT have a VGA, or any memory on it, it has to be used as an addition to your videocard. I can't find drivers for it, tried www.driversguide.com, no luck. Card is poorly marked, only know it is AVID product (chip says AVID). Any idea on where to look for drivers?
XP finds it, detects that it is a video card, but no drivers.

you sure its complete ? most of the avid cards require more than one piece to work (many are mac also)
bad news is that avid dosnt support much in the way of older parts unless you have a support contract with them ..."Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -
Yea, the card does have a large connector on it. Most likely I will not use it, but would still like to learn on how it was used back in the days.

if i knew which part/model it was - i would tell you what it is and how it worked ..
if its PCI , its not that old really ..
some avid boards can go for a lot of money on ebay -- some are worthless (like some targa boards which cost 21,000$ 4 years ago (and REEL TIME NITRO boards))"Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -
I will look up the number on the board and let you know, maybe you can let me know if I can (should) try to get it to work or throw it out... Will be later on tonight though. Thanks!

Here are the numbers on the board:
AVID TECHNOLOGY, INC. 0030-00024-02 (edge opposite to the output panel)
630-1922 (top left corner)
9704 B874961 (first line of the largest chip marking, also bears AVID logo)
Years on the board also marked:
MADE IN USA (c) 1995, 1996
Has a serial number on the metal output panel: 5185
Hope you can figure it out for me, I could aslo try and take a picture of it if necessary. -
i believe its a "avid cinema for windows" board (1995-1997)
they were 140$ or so new .. they were first out for the mac and were a joint mac and avid venture - ported to windows and failed (on both platforms) .
not to be confused with "Cinema for Windows soft pack" software which was pulled from the market (NOTHING could read the avi files it produced it seemed - though it was a not bad simple home NLE for really cheap) ...
Cinema for Windows has a/and incorporates RealNetworks' encoder technology that allows users to export movies in the RealVideo format. Available for the Windows 95 /98 OS with a 200 MHz Pentium with MMX or Pentium II processors with 32+MB RAM, CD-ROM drive and AGP or PCI slot for video card. Avid Cinema requires a video capture card and supports a range of choices, including: ATI All-in-Wonder (PCI), ATI All-in-Wonder Pro (PCI or AGP), Hauppauge WinTV Model 404 (PCI), STB TV PCI, or Intel Smart Video Recorder III (PCI)."Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -
