  1. I have encoded a xvid avi in TMPGENC with no problems with these settings:

    Video:
    Stream type = MPEG-2 VIDEO
    Frame rate = 23.967
    CQ set to 80

    Audio:
Stream type = MPEG-1 AUDIO Layer II
    44100 HZ
    192 kbps

I have used an external program from encoding the audio which is tooLame.exe. I have used the cut/merge mpeg tools within TMPGENC to slice the file into 3 parts, Which worked fine, I burned the 3 files on 80min CD-Rs with no problems, The CDs play in powerDVD no problems, When I come to play the CDs on my stand alone DVD player after about 5mins I get Green Blotchy Patches on the screen and the sound hick-ups, My DVD Player is a Sharp DV-740H, any help on this subject would be appreciated - thanks

I'm not sure if your player supports higher SVCD bitrates. Most players don't.
What bitrate did you have set in TMpegEnc?
Please see https://www.videohelp.com/xvcd.htm for more info.

  3. The bitrates for audio is 192kbps, and video is set to maximum 2520 and minimun 0 is this the problem?

Well, looks like a standard bitrate (the audio one is even lower, I think)...
So I can just suggest to try your CD on another player, which definitely supports higher bitrates and not quite standard formats (for example, some Apex: https://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers.php?DVDname=apex&Submit=Search&Search=Search ) - to determine if it depends on the player.

You can also try another CD burner software - sometimes it helps.
    And burn a CDRW first...

Another option, which should work for any SVCD-compatible player, is to use a SVCD template, which comes with TMPEGEnc - "SuperVideoCD (NTSCFilm).mcf" or "SuperVideoCD (NTSC).mcf" - for conversion to MPEG. That will ensure you're using a standard bitrate and frame resolution.

You could try burning at a lower speed like 8x, or try some different disks.
