I used the sample files from https://www.videohelp.com/vcd.htm.

(BTW, it should be NTSC not PAL, right?)

And I'm using Office Depot 700 MB CD-RWs... no idea who manufactured them.

Used CDRWin to burn, but I cannot play the NTSC sample. It loads, I can press "Menu" and get 4 choices. I choose 1 and a menu comes up (I think), but the picture is all screwed up and it locks up the Apex. It is less than a year old. Any ideas? Is it hosed? (Got it at Circuit City)

Alas, I have no other DVD player.

Edit: Used a dif't brand CD-RW and a newer version of CDR-Win and it worked. Thanks all.

Apex has issues on RW media, at least my 1100W does.

    JFYI:
I have Apex 1500 and didn't have any issues with CDRW so far.
Just recently I even tried DVD+RW - works just fine.
Hope, it will continue doing this way...

  6. I haven't had any issues with my apex player. I've tried many types of CD-R/W and DVD-R/W; all played fine.
