  1. Hello everyone! Been lurkin here now and then but as i've finally have something to contribute, i thought that now's the time.
I bought the Panny 80h two months ago and have been sloooowly educating myself on this machine. One ongoing problem of labeled dvd's (using cd stomper labels) was that anywhere from 25min onward into the dvd, all hell breaks loose: freezing, mass pixelation, you name it. And i couldnt figure out if it was the labels I was using or what. Well, I finally took it into the Panasonic service center in the Seattle area and low and behold, I found out the next week that their replacing the whole motherboard due to a defect when the unit is warmed up or in my case used when the temp was 80-85 degrees (hot summer round here this year!) Now I dont know if this is wide spread but I thought I should let you know in case someone out there was pulling their hair out like I was.
Couple other things: Burnt Panny discs will NOT 'copy' in Nero Express (latest rev), comes up with the message "only the first data track can b e copied". That sucks... great. Now what do I do to clone discs??
Also, I'm using Leda 1x and Ritek G03's blanks and by far the riteks seem perfectly compatible with dvd players.... caio!! Coolb

  3. edlav, I'm with you. I use DVD Decrypter to clone my DMR-E80H discs all the time. Works great and it's free.

  4. Same here. DVD Decrypter but in file (select ALL) mode

Sugestion: Do not lable. Sooner or later you will face same issue.

  5. I don't really know what the big issue is with labels. I have like 400 DVDR's all labeled and they all play fine in all three of my home players.

  6. can you make multiple dvds with this machine? you record onto the hardrive and edit, then can you burn as many dvd-r's as you want from the harddrive?

    thanks, trent.

  7. Sorry I wasnt more detailed in my previous post, but the problem was so erratic that I couldnt really acertain whether it was a label issue or what! When I first bought the machine I had bought some 'no name' blanks off of ebay which turned out to be reject discs, and that added to the confusion. But the main point again is that they DID find that the motherboard in my E80 is defective so that was my main point I wanted to let everyone know. Cause it's a $600.00 part!! More than what I paid for the machine!!

Thanks for the Dvd Decripter info. I downloaded it so i'll try and clone one of my home made dvd's tonight.
One more thing, I also have a Pioneer dvr7000 and I couldnt get what I wanted selling it on ebay so I put it back to service while the Panny is in the operating room. And it had played ALL of my labeled dvd's i've made on the Panny with not one glitch. So can someone educate me why alot of folks say NOT to put labels on the blanks?? I'm curious. Coolb

  8. There is discussion about this and different opinions on lable issue. My position is "why to risk it ?". One thing is for sure. If media have balancing issue, by adding lable that is not perfectly centered you are adding to problem

  9. Hi-

I live in the Seattle area and was wondering where you bought yours from? I'm hoping to buy the E80 this week, and was wondering where you got the faulty machine? Many thanks!
