The US version of the Philips DVDR75 has Progressive Scan while the European version does not have that feature in its specs.
As I’ve bought an European recorder recently (and it does a great job anyway) I’m wondering now if the Progressive Scan feature couldn’t be enabled (e.g. with something like a firmware upgrade or a “hack”) on it too.
Can anybody provide more information on that topic?
Thanks for any reply!

The progressive scan feature is done with a deinterlacing chip either by ddci or flag waving technology which means it doubles the lines of resolution. This can not be done with any firmware or anthing like that ,also you need a digital ready tv to watch in progressive scan via the component video inputs the red green and blue rca connectors or dvi (digital video interface) ,you can not see prog scan via the s video or composite only by the RGB signalor firewire . So if anyone tells you otherwise they are lying to you remember its a digital signal downconverted to analog or digital to digital via firewire cables
