  1. I have been reading on this forum, looked at the guides for converting xvid to SVCD! I don’t know… maybe I am a real stupid person; I don’t have ability to make it work. When I try to convert the XVID with TMPGEnc I get “invalid pointer operation”, in a guide I have been reading: (https://www.videohelp.com/forum/userguides/119019.php ) that I should make some changes in :Environmental Setting, but I don’t have all the plug-in priorities I have to adjust. I am missing: CyberLink MPEG-2 Decoder, and have some other “plug-in priorities”.

Why can’t there be one program that do all the jobs… or even better… one that convert all to all…. XVID is possible the worst film-format that I have tested. DIVX is not that fare behind either. Formats I can’t use on my DVD player are waste. And I know there are DVD-players that plays xvid and avi. But not mine!

Pie in the sky I'm afraid.

You don't have to have all of the plug-ins exactly like in the guide. You do need an Xvid codec and an mpeg2 codec, and you should adjust the Directshow priority to the top under Environmental Settings.

If you have PowerDVD or WinDVD (or other DVD player) installed on your system then you have an mpeg2 codec. If not, then get Power DVD, there's a demo available which will install the codec.

You can get Gspot from the Tools section and use it to test your file, it will tell you if the required audio and video codecs are on your system. Get and install 'em if you need any.

Right click on the Directshow Reader and bump up the priority to the top.

    Good luck.
