  1. Ok, Ok, I am trying to play an SVCD in my pioneer DV-333. I tried using nero (after I downloaded the $16.00 MPEG-2 SVCD encoder, but all I am getting after sticking the cd-r (I have tried cd-rw also) is a blue screen on my T.V. So, after some advice on this site, I have decided to download some freeware (VCD easy and TMPG). Now, how do I change the 1200 jpegs I have to MPEG-2? Is this possible? I have successfully viewed VCD's created with nero on my dv-333. Now, I wish I could do the same with SVCD's. I can already tell this is getting extremely complicated. Maybe that is why I like it so much!

    You may want to take a look at Video Studio (trialware). Just go Storyboard, select the images you want to use and how long you want them to be displayed, drop them all on your story board, select Share-->Create SVCD, and proceed to the burning process.

  3. Use VCDEasy.

    Goto the Tools -> MPEG Stills

    Then click the button Folder, point it at the dir w/ all your pics, and it will convert the whole directory. And it can include subfolders too.
    Ejoc's CVD Page:
    DVDDecrypter -> DVD2AVI -> Vobsub -> AVISynth -> TMPGEnc -> VCDEasy

    DVD:
    DVDShrink -> RecordNow DX

    Capture:
    VirualDub -> AVISynth -> QuEnc -> ffmpeggui -> TMPGEnc DVD Author

    Are you certain you want to convert jpeg to MPEG-2? Or is it SVCD?
    The more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know.

  6. This brings up another confusing point: bear with me.

    Please view the following link
    https://www.videohelp.com/svcd

    In the section SVCD vs VCD

    Super Video CD Video CD 2.0
    Video MPEG-2 MPEG-1

    https://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers.php?DVDname=pioneer+dv-333&Search=Search

    It states that SVCD's will work. However, in the manual that came with my DV-333, it says that it supports only MPEG-1.

    Am I justified for being confused or not?

    Do I want MPEG-2 or SVCD, you ask? I am not sure!

  8. Maybe this is crazy, but could it be a problem with the TV? I am able to watch DVD's with no problem. The reason I ask is because the SVCD is being read by the DVD player. If I put the SVCD in my toshiba sd-k510, it says disc error. The pioneer is reading it, but the TV is showing a blue screen........

  9. Here is an update:

    I tried the nero express created MPEG-2 SVCD in another DVD player at ultimate electronics (JVC) and it played fine. I see the previous post stated that SVCD's worked fine in the pioneer DV-333. Frustrated...

    I did SVCDs with VCDeasy 1.13 for a long time. Then I got a DVD burner and stopped for a year. Meanwhile I updated VCD easy
    Then I tried to make one and found VCDeasy had expired.
    I got the latest one 1.152 ? and made a SVCD and it didn't work.
    I found 1.13 still on my system and tried that and it worked.

    I never had time to go figure out what was different.
