  1. I am looking to purchase the panasonic dmr-e60 or possibly the toshiba d-r1 (I cant seem to find out if it has a TBC built into it). I will use this to transfer vhs home movies to dvd. I have a dvd-rom that reads dvd-ram so I want to create a dvd-ram and then copy the files to my pc. All I want to do is add menu's, chapters, etc. to create more professional looking layouts for the dvd's. I wont be doing any major editing or anything. I have DVD Architect and Ulead DVD workshop. I want to use one of these to author the dvd and burn it on my pc's pioneer a-05 dvd burner. Does this sound like a pretty easy task with the tools I already have? Also, what is the best burning software to ensure compatibility with other standalone dvd players? I assume DVD architect and DVD Workshop should create dvd's that can be played in the majority of dvd players. The reason I ask is that I will be making dvd's for other people as well as myself and want to make sure it will play in most dvd players.

  2. I can add just a little to what you are asking but it might be important. Panasonic records AC-3 2ch sound when rocorded to DVD-R. Just make sure that you can work with AC-3 sound since it might be an issue. Good luck.

  3. What about if I am recording to DVD-RAM? Will it still record 2ch ac-3 sound? I would actually prefer that it didnt since AC-3 sound doesnt seem like much of a benefit when transferring home movies and has more problems with compatibility with authoring programs.
