  1. I've been searching for an answer for this problem for a few days, but haven't been able to figure it out. I'm able to playback divx on my comp smoothly, but not xvid. Xvid videos are jerky, esecially during faster camera movements.
I have used fourCC to change to divx without success. The xvid movies are rendered successfully using GSpot. The video codec used is ffdshow and the audio is ac3filter. I've tried other codecs but the videos continue to be jerky. Just wondering if there is anything else I can try to get the xvid playback to be more smooth. Thanks in advance.

  2. I too got this very same problem with xvid avi with ac3. I 've tryed everything(lots of codec, clean system, differents player).

I got a amd athlon 1333 in windows XP, and I am curtly using BSplayer with the ffdshow codec with seem to be the least intensive on my cpu(about 30-40% used when runnig a movie).

Is there any config trick in ffdshow parameter that I can tweek so I can get a smooth playback especialy durring fast panning scene?

  3. forget it, I've jsut discoverd that the problem is not the playback, it is the source material. Somehow I think that my avi file that is in 29.97 fps was originating from a 23.98 source, because after whatching througly in TMPGEnc, I found out that every 5 frame, I got a double frame(2 identicals frames with no movement).

Is there any way I can remove those specific frame by reconverting it into a film movie 24 fps?
