HI all
I am a newbie to this. Just got my LG 4040B last week and spent a few day to read this site and tried different things with my writter.
I got most what I want now but still can't make the menu work on my Panasonic RP-56 home player. It works fine on my computer though. Anyone had the same problem ?
I will also share some of my experience. Here's what works fine for me
DVD Decrypter 3.1.6.0 : worked like a charm so I haven't tried another ripper.
DVD2ONE 1.2.3 : fast transcoder but the quality and compatibility is not great. My DVDR created with this software can't play on my computer but play on my home player. The quality is average. It's easy to tell it's a copy: lost of color, definition etc. even in main movie mode only.
DVD Shrink 3.0.5 beta: Used in mode Deep analys, this transcoder produced quite impressive quality. The only problem is I couldn't find away to rip just the main movie and the menu. In re-author mode I only could do either one. The result can be played both in my computer and home system.
Instant copy 8: Probably the best quality transcoder of the three. The result produced was awesome and seemed to be more stable. It was of course the slowest one but it's not that slower compared to DVD Shrink in mode deep analysist. The down side is that the image produced is in their format so can't be played wiht power DVD or instant DVD for a preview. It's possible to convert it to VOB but that's another step add up to an already long process
To burn the image , I tried DVD Decrypter (worked with IC8 format too) , copyToDVD and IC8. I only burned in 1X mode. I really beleived that IC8 produced a better quality disc although I have no concret proof. The media I used , Emptec -RW, was mediocre so anything is possible. I only tested once with a memorex -R disc and IC8 produced a flawless copy. By the way, I tried a couple of time with Nero 6 and it didn't do the job.
I, of course, tested these softwares with the same movie.
Sorry for the long post

When I said my menu is not working on my Panasonic DVD player, I mean that I can't get to the menu of the disc when I press on the menu button of the remote. The skip works fine though.
Thank you
