As shown in the following screenshot, when I R-click a DVD folder and choose Add to VLC media player's Playlist, it doesn't work. No entry is added to VLC's playlist.
Yet Play with VLC media player works correctly.
I though at first that VLC must be to blame, as I assumed it added these entries to the r-click context menu on installation. But now I suspect this might not be the case, because of that pair of similarly worded WMP entries. Neither of those work. Play with Windows Media Player always results in WMP being loaded, but not playing automatically. And when I click its Play button, just a few seconds of the DVD gets played, from some (consistent) place near the middle of the DVD!
Can anyone shed light please?
