  1. Please can anyone help me.

I'm trying to upgrade my firmware on my HP dvd200i. I bought the the drive only so it came without any documentation and software. I went to HP's website and in their infinite wisdom (morons!) they do not offer the drivers online. You have to order the installation cd's from them that contain the drivers.

I would be eternally grateful if someone could tell me where I can get these drivers online without having to order HP's crap software. Or if someone could send me the drivers or tell me where to download the install cds.

    Thank you for your help.

  2. It's on HP's website.

However try this site where both the original and regionfree firmware can be found

You don't need any drivers for your dvd writer.

  4. I do need the drivers. The firmware patch will not recognize the 200i drive without them. And again as I stated in the original post HP does not provide the stand alone drivers on thier website.

  5. OK you might be right, but before you go crazy try this:

    1. Download the latest Ricoh Flash program
    http://www.ricohpmmc.com/downloads/dvd/loader/RFlash.zip

    2. Download the HP 1.51 rpc1(regionhacked) firmware from here
    http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=309
It comes with an older flash program that you shouldn't use.

    3. Copy the firmware (1024 KB) next to the latest Flash proggie that you downloaded in step one. (in the same directory

    4. Exit other apps. Launch the program. Make sure the "Backup current firmware" option is checked in case you want to flash it back.

    5. Do the update as instructed. Reboot.

    It has to work

Remember: Flashing is a risky procedure at your own risk!

  6. Great idea, but that didn't work either. Here is the problem ( I guess). I bought what was and says on the outside a dvd200i but when installed the device manager says it's a dvd200j. That mean anyhting to you? I'm going to post another messege to see if anyone figured out how to update the firmware on a dvd200j.

  7. What do you mean it doesn't work?
Did the program say it couldn't update for different name?
