I installed the Sonic DVDit SE V2.3, but in the process I refused to install their extra "dvd player" (a seperate program and seperate installation) because it said that I have to uninstall all other DVD player programs as well as encoders on my system in order to use theirs.
DVDit is running fine it seems, however, now ALL of the mpeg movie files throughout my whole system are so pixelated, not to mentioned resized, when I view them. This is to say that even if I have closed and exited DVDit SE but simply want to view a seperate movie file (even ones that were not made with DVDit) they now look much poorer. Perhaps DVDit somehow went in and reprogrammed Windows Media players (I have two diff versions) to resize and regenerate all of my movie files? Whatever happened they look terrible, not to mention modified.
Does anyone know of the way which I could make DVDit not do this and to only work within the boundries of itself (i.e. not affect programs (Media Player files) outside itself)? Whatever happened, that was pretty scary. Thanks.

Could anybody please try to explain why is it that when I've installed DVDit on my computer but do not install their optional extra DVD player program, it actually causes MPEG2 files on my computer -- which have no relation to DVDit and were made with other programs -- to appear very expanded, blocky and pixelated? This occurs even if I have fully exited DVDit.
Not only is this inconvenient, but that is downright 'scary' to think that DVDit could affect video files of which it should not even be involved with. Not only do all video files now look more terrible no matter which video player I use, but it makes you wonder just what other strange effects might DVDit be causing to my system? Anyways, if anyone could please let me know if they've experienced it and/or what could be done, I would appreciate it. Anything at all !!

I use DVDit PE, and I remember that when I installed it, I did the same thing you did. But I have no problems. Why not just try re-installing another software dvd player like Power DVD v4 and above. It will overwrite any old files that may have been changed.
Now that was funny, both of use anwsered you at almost the same time, but BJ_M got his message in before me. Oh well, you can't be lonely anymore. -
Hey thanks for the replies. Well I went ahead and went in line with what the both of you said. It turns out that I have a copy of PowerDVD 3.0, I guess I must have gotten it when I bought either the dvd-rom or rw drive. I installed it as well as uninstalled the previous InterVideo WinDVD 4.0 that I had on my C: drive. But, as soon as I installed DVDit once again, I am getting this same "squishiness" or "expansion" of my various mpeg files. DVDit itself doesn't seem to have any options to alter this.
Well I heard DVD-Lab is supposed to be nice, but unfortunately I am on budget and can't buy it now. Unless maybe they give out old copies for free or cheap.
Well any other ideas appreciated, and thanks again.
ADDITION: I also installed and ran that graphedit program and read the stats on the mpeg files that have been severly affected by the dvdit install. It says:
Filenamehere --> Ligos Mpeg Splitter --> Ligos Mpeg Vid Decoder --> Video Renderer
\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\---> Mpeg Audio Decoder --> Default Direct Sound device
I really don't know what to make of all that.
