Hi all...
I thought this was pretty cool. Bought a Digital Research DVD+R burner at Best Buy for $129 after rebates. Got it home, open the box and discover it was a DD0203 dual format drive!! Found a note inside that said... Congratulations.. Thank you for purchasing yada yada.... To show our appreciation, we have given you a free upgrade to the Dual Format 4x DVD ReWritable drive.
How cool is that!
I believe it has firmware version 2.15. I found this by right clicking the drive in Windows Explorer. Is this where you find the firmware version??

You can't do that in my version of WinME so far as I know, but 2.15 is likely a valid firmware. I believe they are still posting 2.16 as their most current firmware update.
I own two of these drives and have been pretty happy with them. It's cool that you got the upgrade. When do you ever get more than you pay for in this hobby anymore? Or life, for that matter?
