  1. I have a divx movie that is encoded to widescreen. It plays squashed on computer and tv using tv out. So i thought if i could convert it to vcd it would work but its worse. Is it even possible to make it play normal for my old skool conventional TV.

With movies that are squished or stretched you will have to adjust the screen size manually by stretching the picture in your case to what looks normal, you didnt specify what encoder you are using so i cant tell you what more to do.

In tmpg go to settings/advanced/clip frame/arrange settings and choose Center(custom frame),from there you can stretch or narrow or shrink the pic to what you want changing the pixel sizes,do a minute clip test and check the results to see if its what you want and when you got your best results encode away.
