Hello,
I don't think I'm breaking any posting rules by asking this question but if I did I am sorry. I have fully downloaded some video files with a .wmv extension I've tried to convert these using Stoik, TMPGEnc, Virtualdub 1.3, asftools and videoconvert and windows media encoder 9. The video files are licesed files that require a user name and password to view the first time but do not after the first time the video is played. Is there any way to convert these files or should I just give up hope. Any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to anyone who helps.

I've tried to rename them to asf and it didn't work. but I guess if they're encrypted thats the end of it. If anybody can tell me different I'll take suggestions.

Is breaking the encryption illegal? I mean, if its yours, doesn't it also fall under fair use?

I would think that since it's mine I can do what I want with it that's why it's offered for download, but I wouldn't even know where to begin with breaking the encryption.

It would take some long hours. examine it in hex. that is the usuall place to start.
