  1. does burning a cheap dvd-r at 2x rather than 4x mean it will be more likely to work better?
i've read if u have dvd's that can burn at 4x and dvd writer that can burn at 4x then it should be ok but i think i also read sometimes it's better to burn at slower speed with cheap media.
as i said im drunk and cant be arsed searching and also coz it goes on to google which makes it even more of an effort.
so anyone with any ideas and more likely fellow drunks with a bit of sympathy let me know your thoughts.
    cheers

I dunno why you are so proud of yourself for being drunk.
Anybody can do it - it's easy. I did it for years
Soon as you show up in the hospital about twice with
a $25,000.00 bill, tell me if you still think it's funny.

  3. still drunk and with nothing better to do i did search for answers and the results are inconcusive, some ppl say burning at slower speed does make better quality some say it dont.
i'm of the opinion that some ppl get better results using slower speed coz of writer and media they use (the unlucky ones like me)
and some can burn at full speed no probs
cheap media doesnt seem to be a problem for some, ive read a sticky somewhere saying so.
at the end of the day this is just a past time (well it is for me)
the more u look for answers, the more time u spend in room away from annoying partner (looks over shoulder) and the more luck u have the then the better the results u will have.
anyway i'll keep myself posted i read what i wrote when im sober, this forum is like a diary for me

i think you have summed it up --- good media (2 x or 4x) can be burned no problems at the speed its rated for ..

cheap media MAY be helped by lower burning speeds but that will not help the outside edge problems of cheap media one bit .

  6. my problem arose coz i have optorite which is quite new and needs updates of firmware to make it more compatible with media.
i was using discrite 4x with firmware eg 2 (cant remember excactly what number it was and cant be arse searching, got that foo? pml) and it only burned at 2x but they worked fine
then i updated firmware to eg 3 and i could burn at 4x with same discs but they dont seem to work as well.
they work but seem to stutter a bit
im going to try burning them at 2x tomorrow
i think this will solve the problem
    nite nite foo xxxxx

  7. Hi

Bought a 100 spindle of Princos 4x and burned one disc at 4x. With my NEC 1300A. Full disc.

On most players (friends and such), it would stop at about 85 minutes, the film is about 115 mins.

Burned at 2x it would play through.

So my conclusion is that lower speed on cheap media is better.

I was just offering some advice. You are the only
one on this forum that prefaces all his posts with
how drunk he is. Seems a little peculiar.
That and strong overreaction to advice is one of the first signs.

i dont always preface posts with how drunk i am sometimes i preface them with how stoned i am
anyway enough of this banal crap i wont be replying to u again im pretty sure some of the advice i've read off u regarding making dvd's is quite often wrong anyway
i like try to put a bit off fun into my posts unlike u.
