  1. I'm not a n00b at converting, but this has really got me stumped...

    Lately, all my OneDisc VCD conversions have been comming up at over 900MB. I set it up to be on the 80min CD, and then hit start. When it's done, the file is way over 900MB, usually 1.2 to 1.6GB!

    The only thing I've done differently was install all the codecs manually, as in, downloading the DivX, XviD, and MPG2 (PowerDVD install) rather than use a 'codec pack'.

    These video's are in DivX 5.1 and DivX 4.0 to begin with, and they are around 700MB. Don't worry, they aren't MPAA related... a friend of mine is not that computer literate, so I set up his Movie Maker software to encode his home movies to DivX, and then he burns it to a CD-RW, gives it to me, and I encode it to VCD on my Win2000 server box. I had to reinstall about 2 weeks ago, and when I put the codecs in seperately, now it won't encode right.

    Is it the codecs, or is there a different way to encode to VCD other then TMPGENc? Thanks for all your help!

    Two tips:

    1. Ensure you have the latest version;
    2. Ensure that Video CD Non Standard is selected in the MPEG stream, not Video CD, otherwise I think it pads it out.

    I had this problem for a few days and it was driving me mad!

  3. there's plenty of other programs to use for encoding DIVX to VCD.
    try 'mainconcept MPEG encoder' here in the tools section. TMPGenc is still better, but at least you should try differnt programs, so you can locate the problem.
