  1. Hi everyone. First off i'd like to say hello and that I am new to the whole DVD burning thing. I'm slowly learning a great bit while perusing these forums Thanks for keeping a DVD informational resource like this up for us noobs.

Anyways, I tried searching on this topic with little to no success. What I'm wondering is if anyone has extensive experience with NeroVision Express 2 and might be able to help me. What I am trying to do is creat a chapter select button and a sort of "play all" or "play movie" button.

Here's my problem. Just before i get ready to burn my DVD NVE asks me to create a menu in which i design my own background, I can animate buttons, etc but it seems like it won't allow me to create multiple menus. Instead NVE just sort of throws all the different chapters onto the main splash screen. It looks messy and unprofessional. I'd like to clean it up some and just creat two buttons on the main splash screen. One button would be a chapter select that brings you to another screen displaying all the different chapters and lastly, the second button on the main splash screen would be like a "play movie" button. Does anyone know how to do this? I realize NVE is a pretty simplified program but i'm wondering if it is possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  2. I'm not really familiar with NVE, but I would recommend trying GUI for DVD Author. It'll let you do exactly what your saying, have a play all button, plus make another menu for each individual chapter. One way you could do this is use a program like combimovie to put all your mpegs together. That way when you import them into GUI for DVD Author (GFD for short) they will all be one mpeg, you can just add chapters for each movie. It will do what you want with one button then by default.

It's possible in plenty of other (and IMO, better) authoring tools. I'd recommend TMPGEnc DVD Author
    If in doubt, Google it.

No problem, glad I could help.

@ jimmalenko, I just suggested GFD (its may not be the best) because he can try it first since its freeware without having anything to loose and if it doesn't work for him then he can move on to buying something.

  8. Thanks guys for the insightful information.

Yeah I know the NeroVision Express is pretty simple and limited but its a good platform for me to start out on since i'm am literally clueless at the DVD burning thing yet. I'll try the freeware piece as suggested and see how that works out. I'm still learning the whole codec and bitrate thing, learning how to alter the bitrate to fit a 2+hr long movie to a 4.7G disc, etc. Its alot more involved than I thought it would be but nothing is ever easy, right?
