  1. When I purchased my DRU 510 I applied the latest patch to my version of Nero5.5 and it worked perfectly.
I have now re-formatted and re-intalled XP along with Nero and the patch.
The DRU510 is recognised, but a pop-up states Nero will not run as it was not bundled with this drive.
How do I resolve this issue - must be a registry tweak somewhere?

  2. Did you install the version of nero that came with your drive and apply the patch to that.

  3. Hi Craig - yes I installed the Nero 5.5 that came with my Aopen 4048. I then applied the patch as it needs this to recognise the DRU510. Nero now recognises the drive but will not run stating the version of Nero was not bundled for the Sony drive.

Initially when I changed burner, Nero was fully up and running. It's only since I've done a re-install that this has happened. I could, of course, temporarily replace the Aopen unit to nistall Nero, but there must be a simpler way. Regards, Chris

Bundled Nero is tied to the rcorder it came with. Since the Nero you installed is for the AOPEN then it only works with that drive. You can sometimes fool it by Changing the drive after you install sometimes not. If you Want to use Nero With the Sony and it didn't come with it , either try to fool it again by installing with the AOPEN in and changing drive or BUY A RETAIL NERO. Sorry but that is how the Manufacturers are able to bundle the software is by tying it to their drives only...

Looks like you have two choices.

Buy the full version of Nero, or buy a LiteOn CD burner, which should, should, mind you, have a legit version, complete with install code.

How they decide what to charge the OEMs for licenses, I don't know, but some come with a full install, some come with a restricted version. Guess it's a matter of how many they think a particular OEM will make and sell. A big vendor, sell a full version cheap. A second tier vendor, sell them an OEM version.
