is it possible to use the hardware mpeg encoder on the card
wintv pvr for encoding an avi file to mpeg2 ?
maybe possible with special software.
How can it be done?

Win PVR 250 or 350. Which card do you have. Both support MPEG-2 recording only.

Nope!
Thwy will capture in mpeg2 format, but there is no way to feed back to the card an avi so it can convert it to mpeg2.

If you have a second computer with TV out, you could feed that into your card. Should work, as it is a TV signal.
Either the 250 or 350, one, from their site has hardware MPEG1/2 capability.
It does 352X240, doesn't say 352X480 possible.
