Wonder if I can get 6.5 on sale? Boy, I am Captain Ahab, and that is my Moby Dick. Can you say "Dick" here?
    Hello.

  3. Where did you read that Adobe Premire 7.0 is shipping? There is no mention of it at the Adobe Website. Adobe Premire Pro is suppose to be shipping soon for $699.00 or, $199.00 upgrade fron 6.5. I'm a registered user and I haven't seen any mention of it.

  4. He must mean Pro - I've heard no such mention of a version 7 in the past couple of months.

Adobe decided long ago not to name the new version #7.
They feel "Pro" alerts consumers that the program is not so much a new version as a completely re-written program. They also want to go after Final Cut Pro, I guess.

Not on the mac side, they said they will no longer produce Premire for the mac due to competition from the iMovie/Final Cut products.

Hmmm ..... I wonder if you could upgrade from an "unregistered" version? Or would they drag you off to prison? I found 6.0 more user friendly than I had imagined (with the help of Wrigleyvideo.com) and would like to get it ......... but ..... $600? That's a little steep. I also wonder if it comes with perhaps some of the hardware a person might purchase?

Baldrick, it's completely re- written. No more A/B editing, Transitions and effects are applied differently, nested timelines, there's much more. I'd put it down as "Pro" since thats the official name. They've even added a new section to their forum: you now have to choose to post in either the "Premiere" section or the "Pro" section.

  11. Gritz,
Be sure to post the results of your attempt to upgrade an "unregistered" copy of Premiere. We could all use a little laugh today. At your expense!

    Alenhard,
Didn't say I would attempt to upgrade ..... I was wondering what the "official" policy might be if someone did. I almost always buy the software that I use regularly ....... but you can't blame a guy for wanting to save a few bucks in the process. I don't know if it ever comes with any hardware you might purchase ...... but I'm sure those that have been around longer than I would know!

Gritz, actually you should NEVER purchase the full version of Premiere by itself. You can always find it bundled with a capture card for much less than the software only price ($350 to $400 if you look hard). You can always throw the card away if you don't like it.

Greg, yes. You'll have to re-learn because it's a lot different. But the guys on the Adobe forum are a big help (the actual users that is).

  16. I got a beta of this and never installed it. You must have XP home or Pro with SP1 installed. I refuse to install SP1, so once again Adobe misses the boat (Acrobat 6 is only available to XP users). Stupid.

  21. The Video Collection bundle Adobe is offering right now is actually an amazing deal. It includes Premiere Pro, Encore DVD (5.1 audio support), Audition, and AE 6. Since I'm still a student, I get it all for $450! I'm counting the days 'til it arrives!

  22. By the way- Audition is actually Syntrillium's Cool Edit Pro, which Adobe acquired earlier this year.

Even more amazing if your a student. For us mortals it's $799 US.

BTW, Canopus is selling Storm 2, with the Storm bay, PPro, Edition, and I think Photoshop, for like $1200. I'd like AE, but the Canopus deal might be more useful for me.
