  1. Hi all

Hope someone can shine some light on this problem I'm having, I've burned a few mpeg files to dvd now and for some reason the odd dvd will not play on my cyber home AD-L528 standalone player or my mates standalone player ( think his is a philips not sure tho) BUT the dvd's that dont play on my cyber home WILL play ok on my Samsung 709 standalone, Which is weird because my Samsung will only play DVD's, it wont play VCD,SVCD,MP3's yet my cyber home plays the lot apart from these odd svcd2dvd dvd's.

What I mean by it not playing these dvd's is when I stick the dvd in the player it trys to start but i get blocks like macro at top of the screen sometimes the audio will play but the screen stays blank and the play don't show the seconds moving on the LED screen, I've tried moving it onto another chapter but still no good.

    Thanx for any info

    BuBBa_FaT_aSS,

I've got the same problem. DVDs burnt using SVCD2DVDMPG/ULEAD work OK on some players, not others. Don 't understand why so I'm hoping others can help you.

However, you might be able to help me. I noticed in your post you have a Samsung 709, which is what I have. But I can't play and recorded DVDs on my player no matter what media I tried. How did you get your working mate?

    Cheers

  4. What I have noticed is that SVCD's will work in both players when converted to dvd BUT VCD's won't work in the cyber home once converted to DVD.

The SVCD's before converting to DVD have a resolution of 480x480 and all work fine after using svcd2dvd in both players.

The VCD's that I have been trying to convert have a resolution of 352x240 and they will only play in the samsung.

people with the samsung will know that this is weird as the samsung 709 does not play SVCD's and it only plays some VCD's, but the cyber-home is one of the best players for playing different types of format yet it wont play these VCD's that have been converted to dvd.

The only thing I had to change with the samsung to play these dvd's was the sound codec in the samsung audio setup.

I was shocked that the player was able to play these fine as I've tried every other method I know of to play svcds with out sucess.

What software are you using to burn to dvd Ironballs?

Also are you using the 1.5 ver of svcd2dvd?

  5. Just converted the vcd film to svcd with TMPGEnc Plus then used svcd2dvd and burned it, now plays on the cyber-home and samsung just fine now ...so looks like i'll have to convert any vcd with resolution of 352*240 so that it will be more compatible with other dvd players.

Just means its gonna be a longer process to put them onto dvd's.

Seems like the players you mention prefer SVCDs on DVDR over VCDs on DVDR. Have you tried producing ES or PS from your VCDs using SVCD2DVD & then authoring them with a different authoring application? That way we can see whether is is the way SVCD2DVD authors DVD-VCDs or whether is is DVD-VCDs period.
    SVCD2DVD v2.5, AVI/MPEG/HDTV/AviSynth/h264->DVD, PAL->NTSC conversion.

  8. Ok

I did what you said to try, I produced ES from the VCD's and using DVDlab authoring tool.
The vcds are NTSC and after authing had done I burned and tried the dvd on the cyber-home with a none NTSC tv the results was the picture was cut in half, BUT it at least plays so now I'm doing the project again but in the DVDlab options im changing TARGET SYSTEM to PAL.

    Getting there

    cheers ChrissyBoy

  9. can't get it to display in full screen any idea why its squashing the film down so it only displays at the top half of the screen. Don't wanna waste any more dvdr's.
