  1. Hi all,
Untill now I always used Pioneer DVD-Rs. They are a bit expensive but I have been very happy with them and in my opinion they are the best. As you know Pioneer is no longer manufacturing DVD-Rs and at the same time I finally got my Epson 900, so I am looking for an alternative Printable DVD-R brand. I read here and there that Verbatim is getting screwed also. So, I think Ritek could be the next in line in terms of quality and compatibility. Now here are my questions:

1- Has any body tried Ritek G04 DVD-R 4X white printable by Meritime? How good they are especially in terms of quality and compatibility with DVD players?

2- Is there any better printable DVD-R media at this time?

Please note that my first priority is quality (i.e. no skipping) and compatibility with different DVD player. Thanks for your input.

  2. Well, you never know what you will actually get from Meritline. And they don't seem to care about that either. I would look elsewhere.

  3. I have been using the 4x printable Princo DVD-R which I bought online in my Epson 900. The discs burn just fine at 4x on my Sony DRU500ax.

  7. @hhamzeh:

I would recommend RiTEK/RiData media over Optodiscs, BeAlls and definetly over Princos because they are one of the best discs around with regard to compatibility and burn quality. They are also very consistant and I would rate them as good as if not better than discs made by TDK, Maxell, and other well known manufacturers. The reviews for RiTEK DVD-R's in the DVD Media section says it all. Plus you get the added protection of the inkject printable layer.

  8. Well I just received my DVD-R RioData G03 order from Meritline and the disks actually have RiData embossed on the middle of the disks where the numbers usually are. They burn at 4x perfectly fine but I usually burn @ 1x or 2x just to be sure.

So I guess my point is if your specifically order the G04 or the G03 Riteks from Meritline, you can tell if they are genuine by the disk marking on them.
