  1. Hello

Im using Vdub mp3 to try to join 2 avi files together but when i try i get this messege **Cannot append segment : The video streams have different data formats **

I then use Gspot to see what the specs of the avi's are :

    AVI-1
    Video spec:
    Aspect - 576 x 240 (2.400 : 1)
    Bitrate - 733 kb/s

    Audio spec:
    0x0055(MP3) ID'd as MPEG-1 Layer 3
    Bitrate - 127 kb/s (63/ch x 2 ch) VBR LAME3.92
    Fs - 48000 Hz
    ----------------------------------
    AVI-2
    Video spec:
    Aspect - 576 x 240 (2.400 : 1)
    Bitrate - 785 kb/s

    Audio spec:
    0x0055(MP3) ID'd as MPEG-1 Layer 3
    Bitrate - 126 kb/s (63/ch x 2 ch) VBR
    Fs - 48000 Hz
    ----------------------------------

Im really stuck with this, tried many things that have not worked and really need some guru knowledge on this please...

    Thanks in advance

    Bry..

I had this problem also (usually caused by VBR MP3 audio). Extract video stream of each file independently using vdub (source video not full processing!). Next extract audio of each using "Save as WAV" as ouput format. Individually recombine the audio and video segments and then append AVIs as normal afterwards.

Your file will be huge now due to WAV format but you could always convert WAV back to MP3 CBR (or other format) prior to re-muxing.

An easier overall solution (if you're converting AVI to DVD later) is to load both AVIs in Canopus ProCoder and then select "stitch" AVI files. This converts to M2V (MPEG2) and WAV audio on the fly and unites segments without degradation seamlessly. Nice tool.

Within VirtualDub click File then "Save WAV". It will result in a large file but you can then convert it back to whatever compressed format you prefer to reimport back into the AVI. The key here is to get rid of Variable BitRate MP3 so that the two files will merge. The AVI files will combine nicely with audio set to No Audio, at least temporarily.

Once you have extracted audio you can remux joined (no-audio) AVI files with whatever format you like (AC3 recommended). Use AC3Machine to shrink that huge WAV and then remux within VirtualDub.

  5. The audio came out decompressed as PCM wav files, to join these files together was simple by using the command line "copy /b file1.wav+file2.wav file3.wav"

Then I saved out the movie without audio from cd 1 & 2 and since have tried to join these 2 avi files together still with no success. Having the no audio tab selected in Vdub whilst appending video didnt make any difference they just will not join together. I tried the command line also and it joins them together but its all wrong and only plays for 1Hr 52 mins instead of over 3.5Hrs in total, help....
