I couldn't resist the latest Staples after-rebate price of 5 dollars for 100 TDK CDRs, even though I saw in the fine print that they were made in Taiwan not Japan.
Made by Ritek according to the CD info function on VDCEasy.

I have been using TDKs 100 pack that I purchased at bestbuy for about $7 after rebates. They weren't made in Japan, but I have had no problem with them at all. For $5 you can't go wrong

TDK's CD-R have been made in Taiwan for years. Hell, its not even TDK. Ritek make their discs.

it's been close to a year since i've found tdk's made in japan(by TY) the screw on cap at the top of the spindle was always the giveaway. Eariler TDK's were even made in the USA(whatever that is?) new tdk lately have been Taiwan OR Mexico, funny, even the ones with the american flag on 'em.
Imation were even TY's for a short bit, and HP's. Now Fuji's are the only ones I see that have been ALWAYS made in Japan Taiyo Yudens!
and there often have rebates, and are excellent about rebates... so Fuji is the ONLY name I know for CDR. -
Occasionally you'll see a Memorex spool made in Japan, those are Taiyo-Yuden also.
Unfortunately, I've recently started seeing Fuji spools marked "Made in Taiwan". I don't know who makes those.A man without a woman is like a statue without pigeons. -
those taiwan tdk's are cmc's.....i do'nt know about the new one with that new packaging and the more simpler silver design on top ,but the previous ones were all cmc's....i burnt alot of games on them until i started checking media id's and stuff so now i have to reburn everything...or should i not....they all play fine....despite what people say.......
i don't know who it was ,but in their signature it says
use what works for you..
it's true...if it works sometimes you just gotta leave it alone.. -
I've been using TDK discs for over a year and a half. I've always gotten Ritek.
