  1. Hello,
How can you tell a balnk DVD which is sold under a name (for example Ritek) is branded or unbranded. If the branded Ritek should have the logo on the DVD and factory seal, how can we tell a inkjet printable DVD is Branded or unbranded? As you know some on line sellers ship the media in the name of (for example Ritek) but the product could be anything with Ritek ID number (i.e. G04). If my question is confusing, please just explain how do you define unbranded media specially when it comes to inkjet printable discs. Thanks.

  2. Over 45 hits and no reply. lol. maybe I should revise my post. here it is:
If I buy a 4x Ritek DVD-R with the manufacturer ID Ritek G04, Does it matter what name has been printed on the disc (i.e. RIDATA, or Y's Power, etc.) or where it was made. Do all discs with the manufacturer ID Ritek G04 have the same quality/compatibility? Thanks for your input.

I think the number one rule when considering blank DVD media is never assume anything. Just because it says on thing on the box or disc does not mean two discs that look the same will be the same 'inside'.

Even two different batches of blank DVDs can burn differently in terms of quality. Unfortunately there is no standard and that is why there is no way to know for sure. The best way is to test a batch you are interested in before committing to a large purchase. Even Verbatim (which used to be considered a really good buy) has been known to use substandard knockoffs on occasion.

Nothing is certain where blank DVD media is concerned.

    Regards,

    Savant
