I'm a newbie. I have been able to rip some DVDs to VCDs using DVDx and VCD Easy to burn such to disk.

I am having problems with the only DVD I'd really like to rip, "King of Masks," a Chinese DVD. It's single layer; language; and the subtitles are on screen all the time. It's part of the video.

The trial version of WinCopyDVD will rip the first five minutes. It took a couple of tries and rebooting. So apparently, this thing does rip.

I'm trying to use DVDx to rip the movie. I get two errors:

After I close the input setup: MPEG2Dec. Error during decoder installation.

When I try to record: Decoder not initiated. Open an IFO/MPEG file first.

When I go back and attempt to set it up with the VTS 01 0 IFO file, I get the same results.

What must I do? Thanks in advance.

The movie I wanted to rip has permanent subtitles and only a single language. I was able to rip with EasyVCD, encode with TMPGEnc (which popped up automatically in using Easy VCD), and burned with VCDEasy. The results played just fine on a stand alone.

My daughter has a cheap Cyber Home DVD player which allows VCDs to zoom OUT (or make the picture smaller). The slight shrikage really gives a sharp picture.
