I see that his last post was an abrupt stop at Feb. 5th, 2K3. Odd...

I've been around long enough to remember KJ first-time around, his self-imposed withdrawal, his triumphant return and his second (and last?) withdrawal.

    What's the connection?

  8. I don't want to be rude tenders, but this post is not very considerate of people not around back then. You should say what was wrong with King John. And why you think another one like him would come along. All I know is he was a bad moderator. Nothing more.

Its exactly the same as if two other people are discussing their old school stories in front of you. You have no idea what they are talking about. Its very annoying.

    What a great thread....
...."it's before you registered so tough, it's none of your business"

King John was a moderator, and from what I can remember was a worthwhile contributor to the site. He made many guides and I still see people mention how much of a help he was.
For reasons I'm not fully aware of (so won't guess) he was stripped of his moderator status and then, following certain remarks and critism of other members was warned of his futire conduct.
This enraged him, and he continued to argue and create disquiet until he was banned.
I can't comment on the validity of his ban, I don't know enough of the details.
One thing I should add is King John PM'ed a few people involved in one of his last threads, giving his side of the story.
Being banned I felt he didn't have the chance to give his side of the story and niavely, somewhat regretably, I posted his comments in the thread.
I didn't know enough of the details and apologised at the time.
Young Adam showed me the error's of my ways if I rememeber correctly
I also remember King John removing every one of his guides and threatening Baldrick with some pathetic threat of court action if he didn't remove them, the outcome of which was laughable, King John had voulteered every one of his guides/posts and if he so wished was free to remove them himself.
He did, and as a result joined that elite group of people in every town, village and city.....
    ..."the fuckwit brigade".

I have been around long enough to read some of his posts-replies.

He may have been harassed, may have done some harassing. Definitely, he got under some people's skins enough that they finally got him to say "To hell with you." and leave. True, he came back. And, true to form, the harassers found him out, just as they saw through hot_chrissy, and mojo, or whoever he was.

We have some on this site who spend more time picking people to pieces than trying to help people.

I think Lordsmurf is right. With DVD burners, and the new burners, and programs, it's so simple that there is no reason for them to help, so they just pick each other to pieces.

The only threads that get a genuine response are those that ask how to do something with a VHS, because they are not as automated as a DVD-DVD-R "transfer", not rip, nor anything else.

Christ, you guys might just as well buy a duplicator.

Other than that, everything else is getting to the "goofy" level. You are not permitted to start a thread that might be considered "controversial", i.e. the firearms related thread that was locked a while back. "Politics".

Tenders, I don't know what you are trying to start. Is there a Mod with whom you do not agree? So far, I think they are doing a good job. If you think any have "Imperial" inclinations, just use the link on the bottom right of every post, "Report....." etc. You could also be a little less cryptic with such as g_shocker, who reads and asks, rather than just "You're too new to understand".

Hey, the site doesn't belong to charter members only, and the rest get just what you are willing to let "trickle down", what're you, some kinda Republican?

    They're fine, Will.

Just got my granddaughter back after a summer with her Dad, and took her to her first soccer meeting last Thursday, first practice tomorrow, Tuesday.

My life is back on track.

I was going to comment on your statement in the other post, no one seems to give us our due, i.e., thanks, if we should help them, but thought your 1 in 10 thanks said more than I could. Most of those who really help do not expect genuflection for a hint. You made that clear, and would not have posted this, except in response.

So, Aidin Austin, at a week shy of 3 months, is holding his head up, and I have vid cam movies of him rolling himself over at 2 months, though his mother, my youngest, says he had been doing it since 5 weeks. The clips are 10 megs, can't send them.

So, how is Daniel Arthur? Probably mobile enough to require both you and his Mum to keep track of him. They're fun, Will, and they grow up too fast. Enjoy the boy while you can. Old fart that I am, wish I had another to raise from scratch.

Mostly because the grands are so much fun, the kids must have been, too, just too many other things interfered. And, I don't recall that when one of the kids got a cold getting as worried as I do over the grands.

    Ah, well,

    Cheers,

    George

This is such a shit topic it's worth hijaking with something important...
...great on the video shoots George, I do the same.
I video little Dan every month, sometimes five minutes and sometimes half an hour and man, has he changed!
I remember last year, the first ten weeks and man was it hard at the time. I don't remember it being as horrendous as it was, but it was!
My point is, he's changed so much I miss those early months, and I never thought I'd say that.
He's far from a baby now and such fun, trying his hardest to talk now, and run?
    Run?
    Man, he never walks anywhere!!!!!
I'll have to see if I can convert some footage to small size and upload somewhere.
Detect you're getting a little tired with the site lately George, I'm afraid to say it isn't the George I first remember all those moths ago
Anyway, you downloaded msn messenger yet?

    Will,

I'm sorry, I should have pointed you to the quote before the, now, " infamous", Republican remark.

20 years ago, during the Reagan years, "Trickle Down Economics" was the watch word.

If you created enough multi-millionaires, you would automatically put millions of people to work. Of course, it was finally refuted, but we went through a hellacious depression before it was. But we still have all the multis, who, as far as the Republicans were concerned,( I don't know what you call them, here, they call themselves "Conservatives", meaning they want to keep all they have, taxes are for the little people), would not buy yachts because of the 10% excise tax on them, nor luxury vehicles, same reason.

Now, you or I, who need a new vehicle, because we wore out or wrecked the old one had to go out and buy a new or used one.

Does this seem reminiscent of the Iron Maiden? Probably because the press at the time found that a thousand years ago a milkmaid had an assignation with a stableboy and 50 generations later the new pres was declared a direct descandant , heir to the British Throne.

    Ah, hell, enough of that,

    Cheers,

    George

One last thought (I had to add this, some kind of irony here).
I associate, rightly or wrongly, the term Iron Maiden with Margaret Thatcher.
I laughed out loud when you mentioned milkmaid....
....before becoming UK prime minister she was either minister for schools, home office minister some bloody thing (I was only born 8 years prior, I don't remember at the time)
Did you know she stopped free milk for schoolkids, on the basis that it would save a ******* nickle off the school budget?
That's the kind of women the UK had to rely on for the next 17 years.
    Bitch.
No more politic's George, there are already some moderator's itching to give me a card

Will, Why the hell do you think I PM'd in response? I don't care if I get kicked off. I don't think I have gone overboard, but with some of the "wachtmeisters", who knows?

She's also the same woman that broke the unions that had brought this country to it's knees - you're old enough to remember the regular power cuts of the seventies an the wild cat strikes at British Leyland, Rover etc.

And who was the alternative? Neil Kinnock! The 'run to the hills' man.....

Up until the poll-tax, I don't recall anyone but the lefties complaining against her.

I remember his royal majesty. He did write a lot of guides, and he always seemed to have the right answers. However (you could smell that coming), he was hard to deal with, egomaniacal, and would flame anyone at a drop of a hat for the littlest reason.

When someone would report him, he would edit his posts and feign innocence, which is why the old guard still quote any post tthey take exception to. I really lost what little respect I had left for him when he threatened legal action against this board, when its very raison d'etre is to help people.

He kept posting his diatribes long after he lost his moderator status until the remaining moderators said enough was enough and kicked his overinflated ego so far off this site he went into low orbit. He then used his associates with membership here to forward his rantings and ravings until he finally gave up and opened his own forum.

He still advertises it here now and then, but when he asks if anyone wants to join him there, you will always see me respond with "not even on bet."

I've not seen any of his posts here, even using his proxy members in a while. Maybe I'm not looking hard enough.

  22. I thought KJ guides were(and still are) informative,it was stupid what went down he shouldn't have let a few troublemakers get under his skin it's just a forum for God's sake!
IMO a good moderator is someone who is knowledgable and with the sense to know when not to respond to an idiot.

    NEWS FLASH!!!

Pandemonium on the net! While shooting Kung-Fu XXVI, Tgpo captures on tape a dramatic scene. Will Hay makes sarcastic comment toward worthless posts while DVDrhelp members watch the crossfire. Unfortunately, Baldrick was unavailable for comment. Craig Tucker quoted as saying in wookie "WRRAARRRAAR". So far it is unclear what that means. Film at 11:00!

Extra News Flash. (I like doing these things )

While on the set of Kung Fu 7: tgpo takes Tokyo, a riot broke out. Sources state that a well meaning forum post broke out into a break dancing contest. Sources say that Craig Tucker, leader of the Jets, was the first to attack with a double back handspring ballet move. However Will Hay, leader of the Cryptics, abandoned tgpo's leg he was humping at attacked with a Lord of the Fire inferno. Killing everything in sight. Including himself...dvdrhelp.com forums go empty due to lack of alive people.

By these two statements I would guess that you're some Bleeding Heart Liberal that believes that wealth belongs to the State and NOT to the people that earn it. I happen to believe that people who earn the money and take the risks should keep most of it.

I suggest everyone drop this. No need to dance along the "no politics" line. Just some friendly advice.
