I have been using a freebie called burn4free.

Open the program and add the VIDEO_TS folder to the compilation and hit burn data. Just that easy. Works great. I used to use Record Now Max and I can't tell the difference. Except the price.

Yep, Recordnow Max is my weapon of choice.

CopyToDVD also works, and I'll be checking out Burn4Free one of these days.

Stomp Record Now Max is my Choice, without a doubt the best DVD burning software there is.

  5. I burn with CloneDVD.
Used to have problems reading DVD-R or +R in my standalone.
Since I burn with CloneDVD everything is going okelidokeli!

  6. I think I will try burn4free. I have been using Nero Express and my finished DVD+R will play on my Apex standalone, but not my older JVC player.

Another vote for record now max. Also likely the problem could be with the fact that your using Princos and not a problem with the burn software as I used to Use Nero 5 and with the correct settings it burns perfectly.

  8. You need to download the latest version of Nero you can get. certain versions have incorrect settings in the DVD-Video set-up which causes them to play incorrectly if at all. later versions have fixed the problem.

  9. Well, two "coasters" so far with burn4free

Did I do something wrong? I burned it as data (that's the only choice there is). I am using a 4X TDK DVD+R burner with TDK media. I have burned using Nero Express using both before with no burning problems.
I had a problem with my DVDs not playing in one of my stand alone players, but with burn4free it won't play in either.

I guess I will try Record Now Max.

what exactely did you end up with? I might be able to help. I still haven't had any trouble with a Toshiba SD-R5002 and LEDA 4.7G DVDR Media. Which, by the way, are the cheapies.

    Let me know.

Are you using the DVD-ROM udf/iso mode in Nero? Also, what are your settings in the iso and udf tabs?

Like I always say...data video DVDs don't work for everyone's standalone. Though no one has mentioned this freeware but try using Imgtools to burn. I prefer the non classic version.

I thought IMGTool was going to be something great because it was freeware, but it requires NERO to operate.

I use Ulead DVD MovieFactory 1.0 (no need for upgrade to 2.0) and Nero 6. Great results and fast

I ended up with two bad disks

I tried using Record Now Max and had success with one disk, but got an error with another. Went back to burn the same dick with Nero Express and had no problems.

I think one issue is compatibility. The DVD player that won't read my DVD+Rs is a JVC XD-1000 that I bought in 2000. I found a listing of DVD players that will not play recordable DVDs, and mine was on it

    Here is a list I found of standalone's that WON'T play DVD+-R:

  19. Yeah Stomp record now max is good, I use it to burn dvdr images mainly, but when actually burning video_ts folders and vobs I use nero, simply because I've never had any problems with it and when burning this way with SRNM I can never get it to play on my player. Un popular choice for many is nero, but I've never found it to be as troublesome, as most people claim.
