Can anyone help me.I've converted loads of divx/avi files to mpeg and most are ok,the only ones that i have problems with are the smr navi files. When converting to mpeg using either TMPGenc or Xing encoders, the end result is that i get purple patches on screen every few seconds. These are annoying and wondered if anybody else had the same problem? (i know smr films are not the best quality anyway, but the patches only appear after conversion).
Appreciate any help......

If you get an error message when opening the video or audio like file unsupported
or you get an empty(black) video preview window
or the video look wierd in the video preview window like green or purple or pink
Be sure that you have installed the DivX Codecs (both DivX 3.11, 4 and 5) and also try with the Nimo Codec Pack. If that does not work try to change the codec reader settings in TMPGEnc under Option->Environmental settings->VFAPI plug-in and right click on the DirectShow Multimedia File Reader and increase the priority to 1 or 2 and try open the video.Hello. -

Hi mate,
Have you sorted them purple blocks out yet? I had the same problem - purple haze every now and again yet when the source file is played it's okay right? Try this 'cos it worked for me:
The SMR files that you encode need you to install the SMR patch. I think I found it by searching the web for 'SMR PATCH' It's quite a small download so it shouldn't take too long for you to install and that's it. Hope it works for you too. Also, another thing to note: I've heard that the DivX 5.0 codec can mess around with TMPGEnc (don't know how true this is) so I'd steer clear of that one. Just use DivX 3.11 as that'll play most AVI's -

Its another Mpeg 4 rip, which the Nimo codec pack will install one that will decode mpeg 4.

Give me strength !!!!!!! -
No - Give me strength KingJohn! I had this same problem about 4 months ago. I submitted my post and got told allsorts - use different settings in TMPGEnc, remove the angel potion codec from my computer, make SVCD's, use the highest quality setting and so on. Nothing worked.. Then I got a post from a guy named Chelly who told me to look for the SMR patch which is available from this very site. He'd had the same problem and it worked for him. As soon as I installed it the blocks vanished. So, how do you explain that??? As for the DivX 5.0 codec, I'd heard rumours that TMPGEnc didn't like it - yes, RUMOURS, that's all.

Just to clear this up for anyone else with the same problem, I installed all the divx codecs and the nimo codec and it didnt help.So I changed the settings in tmpenc - put direct show multimedia at priority 2 in environmental settings - and the problem is now fixed!!!!! no patches!!!!
So thanx tommyknocker! cheers! -
