  1. I've been doing SVCD's for a while through tmpgenc with no problems but lately had quite a lot with the picture broken up and quite bad in some cases. I wondered if it could be the scource but not sure as a friend has got them from the same place and had no problems, which makes me wonder if it could be a problem with tmpgenc when it's converting them.
I've got two different writers, was mainly using the Lite on 48x, but writing at 40, so decided to try the plextor 12x to see if it made a difference. It did write most okay but a few did still break up and as well as the picture breaking up it's also not been good quality but the scource has been a good picture. Also tried to write with the lite on at a slower speed.
Does anyone have any ideas on what could be wrong? I'm grateful for any help you can give. The avi's have been encoded as xvid,div3,div4 but can't remember which the problems have come from. Can't think of anything else to say about it as I've only been doing this a few months.Thanks.

  2. Try using a different media, and burn at lower speeds. I am assuming the mpeg file plays ok on your PC after encoding.

  3. Thanks I will try it but can you suggest a good media to try? Yes also that once they were converted to mpeg they played fine on my pc, just broke up on my standalone dvd player.

  4. I use intenso discs, they are rated at 48x but I have regularly burned them at 52x. I have had the occasional disc break up (only a couple), burned at a lower speed and worked fine.

  5. Thanks for the advice. Before got some good discs which were rated at grade A+ and had no problem with them and did think of going back to them. At the same time had bought some called choice and didn't rate them and had wondered if they were anything to do with my problems.
Will look out for the ones you've said at the fair when I go. Thanks again.

  6. try burning at max 4X...

    ------

also, some quick tests with the problematic SVCDs...

does the "breaking up" occur when you play the SVCDs:

    1) in your PC

    2) in other ppl's dvd players

    ????

    -------

    btw, i assume you're buring track-at-once and NOT disc-at-once??

  7. The problem was only occcuring when I put it in my standalone dvd player but I've tried it in my pc and although the picture doesn't break up it does seem to stick for a second or two.
I was writing them at disc at a time thinking that was right. I will try writing at a lower speed and should I do track at a time? Thanks for your help.

  9. Tried all the info I was given and I've got success so thanks for all your help everyone.
I've also written them on as slow a speed as I could and the quality is far better.
