  1. I have had the DVR-106 for about a month now and everything was working fine.... Win XP (up to date).

I tried to stop a multi-DVD backup of my HD which was 27GB, I realised I didn't need certain large mpg files backed so I cancelled it (BackUp My PC, Stomp). This didn't work and the burner light remained on for at least half an hour or more so I started to try and shut the machine down to prevent any damage from happening....(probably a big mistake but I figured it wasn't doing the drive any good burning for hours on end).

Now any backup hang towards the end of the first disk being burned. The burn fails with an error.

Using Nero CD Speed, the test stops with an uncorrectable error (031105) consistently after 4GB. This is not media specific and now fails on disks and media that worked fine before.

I had Roxio software and Nero, so completely uninstalled the Roxio, based on some forums (Stomp and Nero), indicating a conflict. This has not helped.

Pioneer feels it is a software problem.... I guess they would.

Where do I go from here ?

Is it likely a hareware problem (warranty) or software (reinstall) ?

What can I do to diagnose this further ?

All suggestion / help welcome, thanks

  2. Its probably your burning software, there have many problems with newer versions of Nero.

Or, it could also be your media you are using. Bad/ Cheap quality.

I would suggest if you havnt already, use only made in Japan media. It is of the best quality of all the media made. They have a very strict quality control over in Japan.

(ie. everything made there is made with/ reflection of thier spirits....and refects them as person...whatever thier beliefs. Thus it must be of exceptional quality or perfection. If it is not they have dishonored themselves, their family, etc......)

  3. I don't know what that specific error means, but I would lean towards the media too - the 4Gb mark seems to be the crunch point for most of the discs out there.

I for one have NEVER had any problems with Nero, nor those I work with. Naff authoring, yes, but never any problems with Nero - not even some of the earlier ones.
