I want to apologize for the previous two posts mentioning T3. I didn't know, sorry![]()
But here's the review again w/o it. Please if anyone can address the problems I'm having
I've spent all night messing with this thing and here are the problems. The remote is slow. It has a delayed reaction and sometimes I have to push a button twice to get it to work. That's not much of a problem, my main concern was Divx and SVCD playback. I updated the firmware to 227 and tried several div3 encodes that played fine until I ran into a div3 encode with audio at 320kbits. It stuttered the video every few seconds but the audio was fine. The video on all my divx have the wrong Aspect ratios. Whether I use 2.35:1 or 1.85:1 divx/xvids, they all play stretched on the top and the bottom. It has a slight black board on the top and even less on the botom, even on 2.35:1 movies. I tried all the options, 4:3 P&S, 4:3 LBX, and 16:9, even the P-Scan function wont fix the AR. Does anyone know how to fix this? It's pissing me off. Now to the DVD's. It has excellent picture quality. Sharp and crisp but the problem is, for instance on Terminator 2 Ultimate Edition. When I play it, its a 2.35:1 film, the black bars are on the top and the bottom, but under the black bars are greyish/black bars also and then under that is the actual film. That grey/black bar under the top black bars are supposed to be completely black like they are on a PC DVD. So, I don't know what the hells up with that either. And then theres the SVCD. I tried a SVCD for the beginning credits, and on my PC it's uncropped. On the liteon, in the beginning credits, the left hand side the names get cut off. Now I dont know if thats a Liteon problem or my TV picture stretched more wide or what. I'll try on a different TV to see. The interface isn't very user friendly either. It's kind of hard to naviate through everything, and sometimes the player just completely freezes and you have to unplug it, then plug it back in to get it to work. Well, overall, you can see I'm not too happy. If anyone knows how to fix the AR on divx/xvids, and those grey bars on DVD's, please inform me![]()

The coolest thing that I have found about the lvd-2001 is that when playing divx/xvid you can use the zoom and scroll function to correct aspect ratio problems. You can pretty much change the aspect ratio of any movie to any aspect ratio

I can do it on all of my divxs, not vcd or dvds. On divxs I can resize the picture by stretching it virtically and horzontally and with the scroll function I can move the picture anywhere on the screen. with dvds and vcds I can only zoom to 2x 4x... but I cannot stretch the picture.
All that i do is press the zoom button then the arrow buttons up, down, left, right. -
