I can convert pretty easily to view video on my Pocket PC using Virtualdub. Great tool. But when I use vcdgear to convert bin/cue files, I have researched it and found out that it outputs MPEGs in MPEG2 format, which VirtualDub can't read. Is this correct?

In the past, I've used FlaskMPEG to "re-create" the file, then load it into VirtualDub.

The steps for converting video to Pocket PC optimized formats are well-documented for VirtualDub. But not so for FlaskMPEG, at least what I could see. I really like DivX, but don't want to take 2 steps for each video I want to watch. Is there an easier way?

I'm open to watching them in MPEG format on my PPC, as long as the file sizes don't get outrageous. DivX seems to be quite good at 100 MB for an hour of video.

VirtualDubMod should open your MPEG2 video. You will see it parsing the file when you open it. After that you can do whatever you used to do in "regular" VirtualDub. You can download it here.

    Thanks!

I don't see an "audio" option in the menu anymore. Any idea how I can get it back?

Most of the audio functions are gone from this version since that wasn't the main purpose for it. The audio functions that still exist are part of the streams menu. Open a list of streams, highlight the one you want, and you can save it as a wav file or demux it. If you need to do anything else to it, I sugest you do one of those 2 things and then edit your audio in a separate application (BeSweet comes to mind).

    Hope that helps.
