  1. Have had good success making 352x480 DVD files with AC-3 converted with BeSweet. Using Sonic MyDVD to burn, files play fine in Apex, and first tests were OK in the PS2. I use DVDLab for 480x480 as Sonic doesn't accept these, DVDLab disks apparently do not work in PS2, but play great in the Apex.

Last set of 3 movies resulted in first one playing with no sound, second two were OK in PS2. All three play in Apex. If I create the disk folder with Sonic and burn with Roxio, PS2 does not recognize disk although it plays in apex and appears to have identical file structure to disk burnt with Sonic. Roxio set to UDF mode.

Are there any specific requirements for the PS2 to play properly, and/or any ideas why just one file played with no sound? All three were recorded on the same day and processed with the same settings. Also, will the PS2 play a 480x480 file? Any help appreciated, this is to get the kids off the adult TV, at least occassionally.

  2. It may be your media. Apex players are known for playing just about anything and everything but Ps2's are very picky about media. I use optodisks which work perfectly

  3. Appreciate the reply. The DVD-RW with one silent and two good movies on it, after playing once in the Apex, now does not even recognize in the PS2. Still fine in the Apex, which, while an excellent player, doesn't help with compatibility testing as you mentioned.

So far have only tried Fuji disks, selection is somewhat limited in my area. Will try Optodisk, thanks.
